Katy's Red Velvet Cake
11/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Buttermilk
½ Cup Crisco or (1 Cup Regular Milk)
2 Eggs & 1 Tbsp White Vinegar)
1 tsp Vanilla 21/4 Cup Cake Flour
1 tsp Salt 2 – 1ounce Bottles Red
1 tsp Baking Soda Food Coloring
2 tsp of Cocoa
Cream sugar, eggs, shortening until no longer grainy.
Mix cocoa and coloring into another bowl, with a fork and add to above.
Add salt to flour and add (alternately) with butter milk to the above.
Mix soda with vanilla and add last. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool on rack.
5 Tbsp Flour 1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Butter & Crisco
1 tsp Vanilla (Half & Half)
Cook flour & milk until thick. Cool! Cream sugar and butter and Crisco until no longer grainy.
Add flour mixture and vanilla and beat until smooth and well mixed.
Add frosting to cake and enjoy!
